Where Do I Park?

Provincetown was founded by fishermen, so signs of the fishing community, and the culture of the sea are evident. Just walk MacMillan Wharf upon disembarking from the ferry and you'll see the fleet of fishing vessels at mooring coming and going. The wharf is also home to the Whydah Pirate Ship Museum, a museum dedicated to the wreck of the pirate ship Whydah, Black Sam Bellamy's flagship, which was discovered off the coast of Cape Cod in the 1980's.
Stroll towards town, and you will notice the Pilgrim Monument. It is a granite structure rising over 240', which was built to honor the Pilgrims. Many people do not know that the Pilgrims first landed here in Provincetown Harbor, and spent 36 days, before heading on to Plymouth. The museum at the base of the tower is a treasure-trove of natural, and local history.

At the end of the wharf, you will encounter Commercial Street. The street is lined with galleries, shops, and restaurants of all kinds. You would be hard-pressed to find better shopping and eating elsewhere on Cape Cod. The galleries are filled with remarkable paintings, sculptures, and photography. The restaurants are unbeatable, and for seafood lovers, the Lobster Pot Restaurant on Commercial Street is among the best. On Commercial Street, you will also notice Provincetown's unique and diverse culture. The town is truly a melting pot of people of all ages, economic status, and orientation.

For the athletic explorers, there is the National Seashore. Rent a bike and explore the land and seascapes that run almost the entire perimeter of the tip of the Cape. The land here is unspoiled, and few unnatural dwellings are present- just some old ramshackle fishing and hunting cabins.
