A whale watching adventure with Capt. John Boats is an experience of a lifetime. We want you watching the giant majestic whale while your with us, not worrying about something you didn't bring! So here is a little advice on what to bring with you.

As you might expect, it is often cooler on the ocean than it is on land. Even on a hot day, you might be surprised how cool it can get on the water. We always recommend dressing in layers, that way you can simply take a layer off if you are too warm.

Since you will be spending a lot of time on your feet, comfortable shoes are a must. Most people are more comfortable wearing rubber-soled shoes or sneakers. Please no high heels.

The next most important thing is a camera. The whole experience of whale watching is very exciting and fun, so be sure to take some pictures to remember it by! Of course we have extra film for you onboard if you need it.

We also have a complete galley service on all our boats that serve hot & cold foods and beverages.

Here's a Checklist of Things to Bring:
  • Extra Jacket or Sweater (dress in layers)
  • Sunblock or Sunscreen
  • Sunglasses
  • Hat
  • Rubber-Soled Shoes or Sneakers
  • Binoculars (optional)
  • Camera Equipment (also available onboard)
  • Questions for our Naturalist!

All of our Whale Watching vessels leave from the Town Wharf. Please be sure to come early and allow extra time for parking and check in. See you onboard!
