Whale Watching FAQs:
How far in advance should we purchase tickets?
We recommend that you purchase tickets on line at least one week in advance of your planned trip. If you have any questions, please call one of our reservation agents at 508-746-2643.
How long is the cruise?
Your exciting whale watch cruise is about 3.5 to 4.5 hours, depending on the location of the whales. Our boat cruises to where the whales are and sometimes we do move around to find them.
What kind of whales will we see?
Every trip has its own unique experience and each trip is different, but we can expect to see Humpbacks, Finbacks, Minke whales and even the protected Northern Right Whale. You also have the opportunity to observe dolphins, harbor porpoises, pilot whales, and harbor seals, as well as many sea birds in their natural habitats.
Will there be someone on board to talk about the whales?
An experienced naturalist/marine biologist on board every excursion will narrate the trip for you. They will share and describe everything we see and welcome any questions you may have.
What happens if we don’t see whales on our trip?
Captain John has a 99 percent success rate for seeing whales on all of our trips! In the rare instance, we don’t see a whale, we will provide a complimentary pass for you to join us on a future trip. We do not offer cash refunds.
Are there restrooms on the boats?
All of our boats are equipped with clean men’s and ladies restrooms.
What should I do if I am prone to seasickness?
You may want to consider taking a motion sickness pill an hour before your trip. Although most of our trips are relatively smooth, we do encourage people prone to seasickness to prepare in advance.
Do you go out in the rain?
Yes. We do go out in the rain – the whales don’t mind. All of our boats have enclosed cabins to escape the weather elements. We encourage you to bring rain gear, so you can stay comfortable while viewing the whales outside the cabin. Rain ponchos are available for purchase in the galley.
Can we purchase food on the trip?
We offer full galley service on board where you can purchase hamburgers, hot dogs, pizza and a variety of snacks. Hot and cold beverages are available, and those 21 and over can purchase alcoholic beverages. Our state liquor license prohibits you from bringing your own alcohol on the boat. We only accept cash onboard the boats in the galley.
