Captain John Boats has a 99% success rate for seeing whales on all our trips! In the rare instance we don’t see a whale, we will provide a complimentary pass for you to join us on a future trip of your choice. We do not offer cash refunds.

All our boats are equipped with men’s and ladies’ restrooms, regularly cleaned and maintained by our crew.

The temperature on the water is typically about 10 to 15 degrees cooler than on land, so you will likely want to bring a light sweatshirt or jacket, even if it’s warm on land. You may also want to pack a rain jacket in case the weather takes a turn. Other things you’ll want to bring include a camera to get great shots of the whales, binoculars for a closer view, sunglasses, and sunscreen. We recommend wearing sneakers or closed-toe shoes aboard the boat for safety reasons.
-
Our whale watching tours typically last from 3.5 hours to 4.5 hours, depending on the location of the whales. We want to give you a good amount of time to spend in the presence of these majestic creatures, so the total tour time varies depending on how long it takes us to get to the whales’ location.
-
Our whale watching tours involve heading out to Cape Cod Bay and Stellwagen Bank, a marine sanctuary and one of the primary feeding grounds for humpback whales, finback whales, pilot whales, minke whales, and the endangered right whales. Our naturalists will tell you more about these types of whales throughout the tour, identifying which species of whale you are viewing and providing educational information about their habits. We offer full galley service on board where you can purchase hamburgers, hot dogs, pizza, and a variety of snacks. Hot and cold beverages are available, and those 21 and over can purchase alcoholic beverages. Our state liquor license prohibits you from bringing your own alcohol on the boat. We only accept cash onboard the boats.
We only offer snacks and full bar service on Pilgrim Belle Cruises. We have a full snack bar on all other boats.
